Studio vs on-location team headshots
When to bring everyone to the studio, when to set up at your office, and how to keep the look consistent across both.
For team shoots, the first practical question is: studio or on-site?
When studio wins
- Small teams (3–8 people) — easier to schedule a 90-minute studio block than to commandeer a meeting room
- Mixed schedules — people pop in and out across an afternoon
- You want maximum consistency — same backdrop, same light, same room
- Your office is too dark, too small, or too distracting
When on-location wins
- Teams of 10+ — getting everyone to a studio is a logistics nightmare
- Limited time windows — a 3-hour shoot at your office can do 25 people
- You want environmental shots — desks, signage, brand context
- Hybrid teams — easier to align with whoever's in the office that day
The hybrid approach
Our most popular setup for larger companies: execs in studio (more time, more polish) and the rest of the team on-site at the office (faster, cheaper). We use the same lighting setup in both — the look stays consistent across the About page.
What we set up on-location
A meeting room is plenty. We bring:
- Two studio strobes with softboxes
- A 3m roll of seamless backdrop (white, grey, or your brand colour)
- Tethered laptop so people can see their selects
- Small posing platform for height consistency
You provide: a power outlet and a 4×3m clear floor area.
Pricing
R4,500 setup + R750 per head, anywhere in greater Cape Town. Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Northern Suburbs, Atlantic Seaboard — all included.
